SOFIA

Born in Mexico City, Sofia is deeply passionate about nature, travel, and adventure. With a degree in Oceanology from the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California, she brings over two decades of experience in marine education and conservation. Her career began in Baja California, where she led whale-watching tours, focusing on the magnificent Gray and Humpback whales.

Sofia has worked with renowned environmental organizations like Audubon Mexico and Wildcoast, and she holds postgraduate degrees in Wildlife Management and Socio-Environmental Project Design. Currently, she resides on the East Cape near San José del Cabo, working as a Naturalist for Lindblad Expeditions/National Geographic, and is also an integral part of the Salty Cabo Excursions team.

PAOLA

Born in Mexicali, B.C., Paola grew up in San José del Cabo, where her passion for the ocean and art began at a young age. She pursued a Marine Biology degree in La Paz, Baja California Sur, and now plays a key role at Salty Cabo Excursions, leading snorkeling tours, whale-watching trips, and sunset cruises. Paola’s enthusiasm shines through in every adventure, offering guests unforgettable experiences with the diverse marine life of Baja.

In addition to guiding tours, Paola is active in community science initiatives with Salty Cabo, working to protect the marine environment. She also nurtures her love for art through personal creative projects, blending her passion for both science and art. Paola’s vibrant personality and dedication to marine conservation inspire everyone who crosses her path.

JITKA

Jitka is a vibrant, enthusiastic soul with a constant smile. She has a deep love for the ocean, life, and nature. As a certified freediving and scuba diving instructor, she has spent over a decade exploring new cultures and the wonders of our blue planet, particularly in Latin America and Mexico.

Originally from the Czech Republic, she found her home in Baja California a few years ago. Jitka is passionate about ocean conservation, protection, and sustainability. Always eager to learn, she’s thrilled to share her love for the ocean with you and join you on your next adventure!

MARIANNE

Born in Wales and raised in the tranquil countryside of France, she holds a master’s degree in sociology. Her lifelong fascination with wildlife and exploration drew her to Baja California, where the rugged landscapes and abundant marine life captivated her heart.

Baja’s natural beauty became the perfect backdrop for her passions, from whale watching and bird watching to snorkeling, scuba diving, and surfing. These adventures fueled her desire to share the magic of Baja with others through authentic and enriching experiences.

As a dedicated photographer and ocean lover, she co-founded a small, close-knit company with Roland. Together, they aim to offer purpose-driven journeys, revealing Baja’s untamed beauty through the expertise of local guides. Their shared vision is to provide visitors with an unforgettable connection to nature, showcasing the wonders of this oceanic paradise.

CHATO

Captain Chato hails from La Playita, growing up in a long lineage of local fishermen. With decades of experience navigating the waters of the Sea of Cortez, he knows these seas better than anyone. His deep respect for marine life, including whales, dolphins, and sea turtles, shines through in his careful and ethical approach to guiding tours.

Known for his calm demeanor and polite nature, Captain Chato ensures that every guest feels safe and secure while on board, making sure their adventure is both enjoyable and worry-free. His knowledge of the region and expertise on the water make him an invaluable part of the Salty Cabo Excursions team.
